Happy Halloween!

HaPpY HaLloWeEn !!! I hope everyone had a great Halloween. Truthfully its not my favorite holiday but I do like the fun traditions that my girls enjoy and love to see the excitement on there faces and remember how much fun I had as a kid on this day of endless candy possibilities! So this year we ended up with two cute little fairies, it was so fun to see Emma and Hanna dance every chance they had. Makenzie after reading a book on Pocahontas really wanted to be her. And Michelle fasinated with the spooky part of halloween decided to be a skelleton. This is the girl who watched The Wizard of Oz and had nightmares for two years... The weather was so great! and the girls were pleased with the ammount of candy. We ended our night with the tradition of the girls laying out there candy and trading with eachother while watching The nightmare before christmas. I think I only had to break up two arguments! Girls and chocolate!!

School time!

How cool is science?? I always save it for last just like desert!
The girls had a blast looking at the magnetic field with iron filings. The next picture is of us making our own compass by magnetizing a needle then placing it on a piece of cork floating in a glass of water. It actually works! Amazing! You know school is going good when we go over two hours :)

School time!

Well it's been a great first two months of school! I love the beginning when they just cant wait to start. This year we are studying some great things, American history, electricity, magnetism, Incas, Aztec and Mayan culture. It is fascinating to learn right along with the girls. What a great world and time we live in!!

Palm Sunday

I have to share my secret to a wonderful conference this year! I found this craft for the girls to do during conference and it worked beautifully! They moaned and groaned when conference ended and were thrilled when they realized we get to have four more hours tomorrow! I know sounds crazy but they loved this little craft!

Spring Celebration!!

Today we held our annual Spring Celebration! We do this a week or two before Easter so we can separate the "Easter bunny" from Easter. We start our day with finding the hidden spring baskets, I usually put things around spring so we have bubbles and Emma has a ball. Today was also conference so I put in activities to keep their hands busy while listening to conference, note books and pens for notes and some treats to snack on. And of course since I have four girls I have to have pink sparkly eggs!!!

Frog & Toad

We went to see the play Frog & Toad. It was very cute! Emma was enchanted the entire time.

Valentine Skate Party

Our Home school group had a Valentines skate party. Thanks to Aunt Julie we were able to leave Emma home and I took the older girls. There were 200 people there, very crowded but the girls didn't seem to mind! After all there was treats everywhere!

I LOVE to see the temple!

We were so excited to attend the Draper temple open house. It was amazing to me, as we drove over the point of the mountain in one valley we could see four temples!! We are so blessed to have so many so close to us.
We meet Gerry's family there and were able to see this wonderful temple together. It was so great to see all of these cousins and how they loved each other so much that they had to be holding somebody's hand at all times!

We have had so much fun going to the BYU museum of art lately! They have the greatest artists come in. This last one was amazing!! This artist takes every day objects and creates art. This is right up Michelle's alley, she is always creating things out of "things" we love it... unless I just cant find that pair of earrings?? Anyways, the girls LOVED it!

Happy Tears!

Poor Makenzie, inherited my dyslexia... So it has been a huge struggle to get to where she is today! Many tears for her and I!! But lately I've noticed huge changes. She read the scripture for family night, in front of my parents, my sister and four of her cousins!!! That is HUGE! And today I kept getting my camera out because she was reading a story to one of her sisters, FOR FUN!!! So tonight it is happy tears.... Tonight She was having quiet time before bed with Hanna. I poked my head in to tell them lights out and I found Makenzie helping Hanna with her reading, and brushing her hair. Needless to say I gave them 15 more minutes! I love these moments.

First day in Nursery!

Today was Emma's "first day" in Nursery! I was getting something in the primary closet with Emma running circles around me. She heard the singing coming from nursery and she bolted for it. By the time I reached her one of our leaders picked her up and said "Bye Mom" Oh my goodness I felt like skipping down the hall, FREEDOM! My calling as secretary isn't half as stressful without Emma. Then after church let out I had Michelle get Emma and she came back with a paper she drew on... I almost cried! My baby isn't old enough to get papers!! So bitter sweet.

Amazing Michelle moment

Every Mother knows how amazing there children are ( : but there are times where you are reminded just in case you forgot.... Today was one of those times for Gerry and I. The girls and I loaded up into the van for some quick errands and then to the library. Well we got about three blocks and realized we had a flat tire. Lucky for us Gerry was just around the corner! Yeah for Men!! On the phone Gerry told me to get the jack ready and locate the spare tire. Well the girls were very interested in how we would fix a flat, since it was a pretty mild street I agreed to "let them watch" (just a hint of sarcasm") OK, found the jack but realized there wasn't a spare! So when he got there I let him know that we would have to have one of us take the tire in, fix it then hurry back because there wasn't a spare. As we were discussing our predicament Michelle let us know that she saw the tire under the car....As adult we assume we will take care of situations like this, so it was slightly embarrassing to have our ten year old have a handle on the situation. But it's OK! we smile and proceed! Next we need to figure out how to get it out from the car. (I have to release Gerry from any fault, It's my car and should know how it works, right??) Well Gerry tries for a few minutes and resorts to grabbing a hammer and pounding the thing off. While doing this Michelle says pointing to a bolt in the trunk "Dad, I think this bolt holds the tire up." But we both kind of ignore the comment, because were busy trying to get this dang tire off!! Well OK, Gerry was doing all the work! ( ; I was getting nervous thinking at any moment Gerry was going to give up on this so, I thought I would be helpful and read the instructions to see if he missed anything. That's when I realized Michelle was right...the bolt was holding it up... At this point Gerry and I stood and just stared at our little girl...felt a lot dumb...and amazed at the same time! When did she grow up? And when did she get so dang smart?? All I could do was laugh! You are amazing Michelle....
